Jung-Mei Wou is an artist whose practice spans sculpture, metalsmithing, photography, painting, installation, and public art. Trained in both Eastern and Western traditions, she began her artistic journey with Lingnan painting at the age of eight, later pursuing formal fine art studies in Taiwan before continuing her education in the UK. She holds an MA in Contemporary Art from Oxford Brookes University, a Business Skills Certificate from the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School, and a certification in Examination of the Cross Sections of Paint Layers Professional Development Programme from International Academic Projects in London.
Wou’s work explores philosophical notions of time, space, memory, and the interplay between opposites—reality and illusion, the transient and the eternal. Her installations often draw upon both Eastern and Western systems of logic, fusing poetic sensibility with conceptual rigour.
She currently teaches at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and has held academic positions at the National Taipei University of Technology and in the Fine Arts Department at Tunghai University. Her cross-disciplinary approach bridges art, design, and spatial thinking.
Wou has received numerous international accolades, including the Bronze Prize for Sculpture at the National Art Exhibition (Taiwan), the HRD Design Award (Belgium), the A’ Design Award (Italy), and the MUSE Design Awards and MUSE Photography Awards (USA). Her work has been widely exhibited across the United States, Europe, Asia, Hong Kong, and Dubai, as well as at World Expo Yeosu.
