This work draws inspiration from the everyday scenery along the Tamsui River, capturing a quiet moment from a café overlooking the riverside. Distant mountains, flowing water, a bridge, and flowers along the riverbank come together through soft colors and areas of white space, creating a calm and tranquil riverside scene.
The painting is rendered primarily in muted blue-gray tones, gently blending the hazy mountains in the distance with the broad expanse of water. The bridge stretches across the river as a steady visual line, while the flowers in the foreground bring a touch of softness and everyday warmth. Small details such as the street lamps and railings add a familiar human presence to the landscape.
For me, “a slow tempo” is a way of experiencing the rhythm of life. Sitting by the river with a cup of coffee, watching the water move gently, time seems to slow down as well. Through the transparency, washes, and quiet spaces of watercolor, I hope to preserve a moment without hurry, leaving the viewer a small space of stillness while taking in the landscape.
