Drawing installation 1995/96 200X200X150cm
Re-edited version 2024
The intention behind this series of works is to capture the essence of the times and explore the meaning of human existence. Each question and direction represents an important landscape of the present, where the consciousness of survival, driven by desires and expansions toward the external world, serves as the source of motivation for each life form. As humanity evolves and gains more knowledge, we create a vibrant and splendid civilization. The interplay between the evolution of knowledge and the desire for expansion shapes the landscape of human existence, ultimately leading to what kind of conclusion?
The text that runs through the paintings—exploring the relationship between the apple, the serpent, and humanity—delves into the thinking of different eras through the symbolism of art. How do humans harness wisdom and desire to develop vibrant epochs? Why does it evolve into such dazzling forms and colors? Have people in each era become lost in the currents of intellectual development?
These questions are open-ended, serving as a driving force for self-advancement. The essence of human "survival" lies in the process of interaction with the external world; perhaps the purpose of life is to allow humanity to experience the journey of cosmic creation. Artistic creation seeks to extract its profound meanings from this experience. Each piece of work captures representative artistic styles, innovatively engaging in inter-temporal dialogue through allusions, raising questions about existence and development. By drawing from the past to reflect on the present, we contemplate the possibilities of the future.
The physical installation, depicting a human figure being absorbed by a screen, subtly conveys the grand question of a state that consumes the human heart. Humanity, like a gluttonous serpent, risks being devoured by its own creations.
